Jaring loses summary proceedings and remains reserve of 3×3 basketball team in Tokyo

The Olympic selection of the Dutch 3×3 basketball team remains the same, despite a lawsuit from reserve player Julian Jaring.

The 30-year-old basketball player believes that he is entitled to a place in the basic team, because he was in the selection that forced qualification for the Olympic Games. After his protest was rejected by the Basketball Association’s Appeals Committee, he filed a preliminary injunction.

The judge acknowledged that the player was within his rights to sue, but did not agree with Jaring’s claim.

Jaring remains reserve

As a result, the selection continues to consist of Arvin Slagter, Dimeo van der Horst, Jessey Voorn and Ross Bekkering, who has been called up by national coach Brian Benjamin instead of Jaring.

The team will go to Tokyo next week with Jaring as reserve. Jaring and the national coach have announced that they will now fully focus on the Games after the case has been closed.
