Japanese Foreign Ministry announced the G7 summit on the situation in Afghanistan

The summit is scheduled for September 8, however, according to Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, this is still a preliminary date.

“To discuss the situation in Afghanistan, the G7 will hold talks next week at the level of foreign ministers. Representatives from Russia, China and other countries will also have to attend,” Motegi said.

Also, the G7 countries, Turkey and Qatar will discuss the future of the Kabul airport.

Taliban militants on August 15 announced the establishment of control over the entire territory of Afghanistan. They are currently forming an interim government. Washington plans to withdraw its troops from the country by September 11, 2021.
