Japan hurry to guard their claimed frontier archipelago China. The provision of this benchmark is a form of Japanese resistance against China which continues to claim most of the South China Sea (SCS) as part of its territory.
Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi confirmed that the Senkaku Islands, the disputed territory, are unquestionably Japanese territory, CNN quoted.
China itself refers to the group of islands it claims as the Diaoyu.
“Against China’s actions to the Senkaku Islands and other parts of the East China Sea. We must show that the Japanese government firmly defends our territory with more Japanese coast guard ships than China,” Kishi said.
Japan itself is making a major expansion in securing the islands. They added various weapons of war to protect the Senkaku Islands, one of which was the F-35 fighter jet.
Japan is also building new destroyers, submarines, and missiles. In addition, the country also replaced their fleet of warships with aircraft carriers.
Meanwhile, China is as tough as Japan in defending the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands.
“Diaoyu Island and affiliated islands are an inseparable part of China’s territory, and it is our right to carry out patrols and law enforcement activities in these waters,” China’s Foreign Ministry said in 2020.
In an effort to claim the territory, China enacted new laws that strengthened the authority of its country’s coast guard.
Chinese Coast Guard vessels also frequently enter Japanese waters, which are 3 kilometers from the mainland. They entered the area 88 times, from January 1 to the end of August, sourced from the Japanese Authority.
