Using artificial intelligence, a group of Japanese researchers from the universities ofHirosaki and Kyoto has developed a method to predict the possible occurrence of various diseases in order to avoid them.
According to the agency Kyodo, their data analysis system for around twenty categories from health examinations, makes it possible to establish the probability of developing in particular diabetes or dementia, but also arteriosclerosis, hypertension or obesity, in the next three years.
Approximately 20,000 volunteers, divided into two groups for each disease, participated in this study. On the one hand, there were people whose data suggest the development of the disease in the future and on the other hand a control group.
In addition to general information on the volunteers’ physical condition, their eating habits and their lifestyle, the researchers analyzed nearly 2,000 categories of data on their health and also carried out genetic tests.
According to Sputnik, the prevention model can be used to make personalized recommendations on how to reduce the likelihood of developing different diseases by, among other things, changing the lifestyle of patients.
