Jane Birkin was born on December 14, 1946 in Marylebone in central London.

Daughter of David Birkin, commander in the Royal Navy, and actress and singer Judy Campbell, she made her film debut at the age of 19 in Michelangelo Antonioni’s film Blow-Up.

She briefly married the English composer John Barry, author at the time of the music of the James Bond and TV series Sincerely yourswith whom she has a daughter, Kate Barry in 1967.

Shortly after her divorce, she moved to France and met Serge Gainsbourg there on the set of the film Slogan by Pierre Grimblat.

They thus formed, for a decade, a highly publicized couple, from which a daughter, Charlotte Gainsbourg, was born in 1971.
