Jakub Voráček: Expansion of Extra-League Kladno Hockey Team Implementation with 2010 World Champion

The 2010 world champion Jakub Voráček will expand the implementation team of extra-league Kladno hockey players.

The 34-year-old striker, who interrupted his career in the NHL for health reasons, will act as a mentor at the club.

The Knights announced his engagement on the official website.

“We offered Kuba if he would like to help Kladna as a coach, and we are pleased that he accepted,” said sports manager Jiří Burger.

The Kladen official specified that one of the most outstanding Czech figures in the NHL in recent years is to act as a mentor for the team. “And they will mainly focus on power play,” added Burger.

Voráček was born in Kladno and went overseas in 2006. Participant in six World Championships, the Olympic Games and the World Cup in the elite Canadian-American League, he played 1,058 games, scored 223 goals and added 583 assists. In the playoffs, he collected 28 points (9+19) in 49 games.

He played eleven games in the NHL last season, after which Columbus placed him on the long-term injured list due to repeated problems with concussions.

In March of this year, the club traded him to Arizona, but he did not participate in the season and should not play in the next year of the NHL either.

“It happened quickly and it was a bit of a surprise. I called Džegr (by Jaromir Jágr) and we agreed on some form of cooperation. It will be a new experience for me and I hope to help Kladno,” said Voráček.
