There is more and more talk about the fact that bans on internal combustion cars will become impossible, but even the British Prime Minister publicly refuses to insist on 2030. So the car companies could relax and start acting again in accordance with the market’s requirements, but you, as customers, are bound to Jaguar.

In 1881, a dissertation titled Suicide, written by the Czech philosopher, sociologist and later president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, was published for the first time by a professional press. He stated that in most cases the voluntary departure from the world is connected with the loss of faith and life’s certainties. The management of the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover is apparently going through something similar.

It’s ironic that we voted this morning that instead of saying, “We’ll sell what customers want as long as we legally can,” car companies prefer to tell customers something like, “We’ll force what you don’t want, even if we don’t have to.” ” This is basically exactly what Jaguar says. Its new boss, Adrian Mardell, has already said that plans to electrify the entire portfolio will not change even if the political pressures disappear.

This is how Mardell reacted to the events that are currently connected with the island kingdom. The British wanted to go green before the European Union and originally announced that from 2030 there would be a ban on the sale of new cars with internal combustion engines. Five years later, even hybrid cars were to disappear from the offer, while only electric cars would be allowed. The country then wanted to become a global leader in the field of battery propulsion. But these plans were utopian from the beginning, and it’s starting to show clearly now.

The current British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has already refused to confirm that he insists on the introduction of a ban on internal combustion cars from 2030 and that a pragmatic approach will take precedence. This could be grist to the mill for automakers such as Jaguar Land Rover, which have previously promised a commitment to electric power and now have to face the prospect of such a one-stringed portfolio. But the British won’t use this chance to cancel their senseless plans – a man with an internal combustion engine is simply not allowed to drive by.

“The plans remain the same,” Mardell said of the matter, adding that even if the British were to postpone or cancel the planned ban, Jaguar would still not be offering anything else. We’ll see how long his determination lasts. The interest in cars of this brand is constantly waning, and this is not because of the drivetrain. That they would be saved by something that only narrows the width of the customer community? Finally, Jaguar itself needs to see what a flop its electric I-Pace is. But reality did not and does not interest him. And now he is no longer even interested in political pressures, which were the only ones that led him to bet on a purely electric card. Isn’t it fascinating?

The existing electric SUV I-Pace has a large number of international awards to its credit, but it is a commercial failure. Why the British think that they will be more successful with other electric cars, which will also be significantly more expensive, is really a mystery. Photo: Jaguar
