BELMONT PARK. He has been one of the NHL’s hottest goalies in recent weeks, and during Saturday’s visit to Long Island, Jacob Markström was about to crown another big game with the first goal of his career as well.
– It was a bit embarrassing, you don’t get many situations like that. I have to stick to stopping the pucks instead, says the 34-year-old Calgary star with a smile after the 5-2 victory against the Islanders.
“I haven’t seen Markström this good since I came to the club,” said Calgary Flames coach Ryan Huska after the victory in Newark last night, and he won’t revise that opinion after Saturday’s matinee performance at UBS Arena on Long Island.

– It is easy to say that we had a lot of rebounds against us and a lot of post forward, but it feels a little like that, says “Markan”.
– Now we have brought in some young guys who have contributed with good energy and at the same time I think we are pulling in the same direction in a different way.
