Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D Parody Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’ in Hilarious Surf Scene

The clip, just 1 minute and 49 seconds long, has been viewed more than 800,000 times on YouTube in a matter of hours. Fans react en masse under the video that they would like to get a cover of the entire song. “Jack Black’s voice is mesmerizing and Kyle’s guitar is beautiful,” one person writes. Another: “The original is one of my favorite songs, but this cover is my all-time favorite.”

But beyond the music, fans also enjoy the humorous clip. Because Tenacious D singer Jack Black and guitarist Kyle Gass decided to copy the legendary scene in the surf from the original with a wink. The two frolic in nothing more than white underpants (Gass) and a gold-black striped men’s bathing suit (Black) through the waves and on the beach. Just like model Helena Christensen did in 1989. It meant her big breakthrough for the Danish model.

“This silly humor with incredible music means so much to me,” writes one fan. Another: “Tenacious D deserves all the love and more. They make me smile, while they make beautiful music.” Another one: “I love how unashamed and comfortable Kyle and Jack are with their bodies. We can all learn from that.’”

Tenacious D decided to officially release the cover after the band took the internet by storm with a performance of the song during a live session on US radio station SiriusXM in December. Last month, Jack Black and co released new music for the first time in five years. Black and Gass are also known as actors. They played together in ‘The Cable Guy’ and both can be heard in ‘Kung Fu Panda’.
