Australian center Isaac Humphreysspeaking for “Melbourne”has publicly stated that he is gay.
“I learned a lot about myself this offseason. I knew that if I joined the team and started the season, I had to be who I am and I couldn’t hide anymore, because I had worked a lot inside of me and I couldn’t go back to the closet.
I’ve been hiding something about myself all my life, from everyone I love, and sometimes even from myself. This is the truth, which I have long denied, but now I am ready to admit to everyone that I am gay, ”said the 24-year-old player.
According to the club, Humphreys is the only openly gay professional basketball player in the world.
In the 2018/19 season, Humphreys played NBA for “Atlanta”.
