Italian Serie A football could last until October. This opinion was expressed on Sunday by Gabriele Gravina, the president of the national association (FIGC). Conversely, should the season not end due to the coronavirus pandemic, this could result in a number of legal disputes. The Italian championship has been paused due to the crisis since March 9th.
Given the numbers of around 129,000 positive coronavirus cases to date, as well as around 12,500 with or with Covid 19 disease, some club presidents have already said that the season should be stopped. “The only serious option,” said Gravina, “is that the 2019/20 season will be completed. We are working on a number of possible solutions to solve the situation in the best way. ”
According to Gravina’s opinion, the legal path to stopping the point hunt could be clubs that are relegated or those that miss the European Cup. “We would risk the championship taking place in the courtroom.” Gravina added on a RAI broadcast that May 17 may be the date of the game to resume, but also stated that this is only a hypothesis.
