It will take you far and high for little money

Click, rotate the handlebars, click, lock the handlebars in the rotated direction, click, fold the mainstay and click, lock the pin. This entire process takes less time than writing the previous sentence. Even with this mechanism, the NAVEE N65 scooter is suitable for riders under 110 kg incredibly strong. Even at top speeds, I didn’t experience any squeaks, creaks or play in any joints or joints. The extra-large and anti-slip step, which is surprisingly not extremely high, will definitely please you.

The handlebars are quite large and have a pleasant rubber grip, which actually also applies to the control “gas” lever with two buttons. Between the handles is a rectangular display, the displayed data of which I will discuss later, but for now I will mention that it is quite shiny and quite unimpressive, so not quite comfortably readable in a brighter environment. Among the imperfections I would also include the stand, which does not inspire 100% confidence and after a few weeks of use I am already a little concerned about it. But perhaps unnecessary.

Drive ability

Even though the NAVEE N65 has no mechanical suspension, the ten-inch inflatable wheels with a width of almost eight centimeters partially ensure that the scooter can cope with more difficult terrain and provide increased comfort. Compared to fixed wheel models, no doubt.

One evening in December, I coincidentally found myself in a situation where I had planned in advance to commute quickly around the city on a scooter, but that very day about 10 centimeters of snow. So I took it as a challenge. Some pedestrians tapped their foreheads, but thanks to the wide wheels and rough pattern (and from the point of view of electronics protection, also IPX4 protection), the ride was surprisingly stable and sure.

NAVEE N65 meets European standards and is therefore limited to a speed of 25 km/h in the Czech Republic, among other things. So far, I have searched in vain for the possibility of manually shifting the maximum speed, and the manufacturer is obviously very careful about this. Certainly more than models from other brands. Rthe scooter has a total of four driving speeds. Number one is 15 km/h, number two is 20 km/h, and number three is 25 km/h. In addition, the SET button can be used to switch on an extra slow pace corresponding to walking.

But now to what is probably the most interesting: The scooter has a NOMINAL power of 500 W, which in combination with a range of up to 65 kilometers and a maximum load capacity of 120 kg is great. The NAVEE N65 is therefore in its place (I would still consider it a compact city scooter) very strong indeed and that’s why he can claim to be able to climb a hill with a 25% gradient. Of course, it depends on the weight of the rider, but even I can be driven by this machine up a respectable hill. It also depends on the battery charge.

Even the maximum range is of course inversely proportional to the weight of the rider and at the same time to the maximum speed. In my case, 65 kilometers is an unattainable goal, but it can be reached at some forty to fifty, which is a luxury in this price category and taking into account the other parameters. It takes around seven hours for the adapter and the scooter to fully charge.

There is only a slight delay after turning the lever, which obviously also depends on the selected maximum speed. On “one” the start is much less aggressive than on “three”. The normal engine poke is reliable, but I find that the NAVEE N65 hesitates for an abnormally long time or even he protests as he tries to accelerate again after briefly releasing the lever. For example, when I reach an intersection and after looking around I want to continue right away. Several times in such a situation I had to bounce back with my foot and take the lever again.

In my opinion, the opposite of starting, i.e. braking, is solved here to an excellent standard. With a load of 110 kg, the scooter will understandably not stop “on the spot”, but it will combination of brakes is really effective. Mild braking is handled directly by the electric motor at the front, and sharp braking by the disc at the rear. Within a few minutes, I quickly got used to where the limit of this switching was. Front and rear lighting ensures safer and more comfortable driving in the dark. There is also a small but loud enough bell near the brake lever.

Control, display and application

As I mentioned before, the scooter has four speed modes. These can be switched with the SET button right next to the lever. Just below it is a long-press on/off button. With a short press, it serves as light switch. A twist of the stick and a squeeze soon have their own intensity indicator in the corners of the display, although I honestly don’t know how useful this signaling is to the rider at any given moment.
