“It will be easier next” – about the prospects of a new wave of coronavirus

The high proportion of people who have had coronavirus infection and those who are immunized with it in Moscow suggests that the new wave of coronavirus will be milder than the first. This was announced on July 17 by the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the department of microbiology, virology and immunology of Sechenov University, doctor of biological sciences Vitaly Zverev on the TV channel “Russia 24”.

“It looks like this COVID-19 is no worse than the flu. The fact that 60% of Muscovites have antibodies is already good. How much will they be saved? No one knows. Nevertheless, anyway, someone will get sick – these 60% will still only increase, this percentage will increase. This means that there will be fewer cases, because the virus, falling into such a population, will not spread so quickly, ”Zverev said.

On July 17, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that 60% of residents in the capital of Russia have collective immunity to coronavirus, which is comparable to the same level for New York.
