Many culturally related people have publicly expressed their pain at the loss of this talented artist.
“I will miss him very much. Meetings with him, conversations, his great sense of humor (…) As soon as I found out about Sylwus’ death, I made a decision that from this year on, the Film Directing Festival will be named after Sylwester Chęciński “ – says Stanisław Dzierniejko, film expert, director of two Lower Silesian festivals: Film Acting in Wrocław and Film Directing, and privately a longtime friend of Chęciński.
“He was a wonderful man, a wonderful director, a great figure of Polish cinematography. His death is a great loss “ – confessed Robert Goner, actor from Wrocław, performed, among others in the movie “The Debt”.
He made “Samych his own”, the best comedy in the history of Polish cinema. Praise him for that. But you have to remember that as a director he is brilliant: each of his films is outstanding. It’s rare. Besides, despite his great achievements, he is an extremely modest man. Very” – lamented Stanisław Szelc, satirist of the cabaret “Elita”.
