VIVA – Indonesian badminton players were forced to resign by the organizing committee All England Open 2021 and the World Badminton Federation (BWF). They were asked to carry out independent isolation as stated by the UK National Health Service (NHS).
The reason was that the Indonesian group was on a plane with an anonymous passenger who tested positive for COVID-19. This news suddenly made the Indonesian public angry.
BWF President, Poul Erik Hoyer Larsen become the target of criticism. He is considered to be fully responsible for the expulsion of Indonesia from All England Open 2021.
Various criticisms hit the BWF. A number of officials in Indonesia are inflamed due to the behavior of the BWF which is considered discriminatory.
The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Zainudin Amali, for example, said that BWF dumped his body.
