According to the IT industry on the 17th, rumors have spread that NCsoft recently called an emergency board meeting and decided to increase the annual salary of all employees by 10 million won. As of the third quarter of last year, NCsoft’s number of employees was about 4,000. Simple calculations require a budget of at least 40 billion won.
However, it ended with a happening when NCsoft denied the fact of raising the annual salary. One NCsoft employee said, “I’ve been waiting intently to hear about Nexon’s salary increase, but it’s regrettable.”
Earlier, NCsoft paid a special incentive of 2 million won per person at the end of last year. Last year, NCsoft’s sales exceeded 2 trillion won for the first time in history, and operating profit increased 72%.
However, as competitors offer higher wages, there are complaints among employees.
Nexon raised wages this year to the highest level in the industry. The annual salary of new employees was raised up to 50 million won, and the annual salary of incumbent employees was also raised by 8 million won. Netmarble also announced an increase in annual salary of 8 million won for all employees. Naver has also joined the ranks of raising salaries by offering the industry’s highest level of annual salary of 50 million won to new developers joining this year.
