It seems that the classic James Bond adventure may also appear on modern consoles

Rare’s legendary Nintendo 64 game, GoldenEye 007, captivated many when it was released in 1997, just a few months before its cinematic debut. It is a well-known fact that a modern console port was made for the game, but it never appeared in the end. The remastered port of the GoldenEye 007 was revealed in a rather unorthodox way: at the beginning of last year, a full play was leaked out of it, plus 4K at 60 fps. A month later, in February 2021, the game files were dropped and gamers in the gray zone crashed into it. So the GoldenEye 007 Remastered is completely ready, they just blew out the game at the last minute.

Now, however, 55 achievements have been released on TrueAchievements that belong to GoldenEye 007. According to the Xbox Achievements Tracking page, the 55 leaked trophies don’t match the achievements of last year’s leaked 007 game, so even that complicates the situation. The mowed game would have appeared as part of the Xbox Live Arcade service. Among the trophies that have just been leaked are some that ask you to complete Bunker / Facility / Surface / Depot / Cavern and other levels on any difficulty level. However, there are also hardcore challenges, for example, to unlock all weapons in less than 6 minutes on the 00 Agent difficulty level, the Egyptian level. A complete list of achievements here you can find it.

The question arises, if the game is ready, why doesn’t it appear? The short answer lies in the complexity of copyright, and the longer answer is much more complex. GoldenEye 007 has 15 different companies involved. First, when the game was released, Rare still belonged to Nintendo, but during the studio it was already owned by Microsoft, and the game mechanics are owned by Rare, but since Rare is owned by Microsoft, the studio could not upload the game to their internal platform. , for Rare Replay. Complicating matters is the fact that, since 2011, Electronic Arts and Activision (Acti released the 2010 remake, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded) have owned a GoldenEye video player license, while the film rights are held by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and distribution rights belong to Universal. In 2020, Apple and Netflix struggled to get all the rights to GoldenEye, and IO Interactive behind Hitman is making a Bond game set by the current owners of the James Bond franchise, EON Productions.

According to the present position, it is not possible to say anything particularly clever. Although the leak of Achievements is an encouraging sign, it doesn’t guarantee anything, especially with such a complicated copyright background, and it should also be noted that Achievements are different from the game leaked last year. Sure, the trophies may have changed in the meantime, but that wouldn’t make much sense. In any case, hope dies last, and the GoldenEye 007 is the first FPS to appear on a console and was good. He certainly deserves more than this vomited fate.
