Roman Abramovichowner of Chelseaconfirmed this Wednesday that the English club is for sale and that will not ask for any of the loans to be repaid What has he done to the team in recent years?
“I would like to respond to the speculation that has been in the media in recent days regarding Chelsea. As I have said on other occasions, I always make decisions in the best interest of the club and, in the current situation, the best decision is to sell the club,” Abramovich said in a statement.

Abramovich assured that the sale of the club will not be immediate, but will follow a process and that he will not ask for the loans he has made to the team to be repaid, and that they amount to more than £1.5 billion (about 1,800 million euros).
“This has never been about business or money, but of love and passion for sport and for the club. I have asked my team to open a charity and that all proceeds from the sale will go to the victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes both providing urgent funds at this time and those victims who need long-term recovery, “added the Russian tycoon.
“Has been a very difficult decision to make and it hurts me a lot to have to leave the club. I hope to be able to return to Stamford Bridge one last time so I can say goodbye to all of you. It has been a privilege to be part of Chelsea and I am very proud of everything we have achieved.”
Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 for an amount close to 100 million euros and, since then, has made it one of the leading teams in Europe, with 18 titlesincluding two European Cups.
An American consortium, with the billionaire Hansjoerg Wyss at the head, has been one of the first to show interest in buying the club, although they have been reluctant with the price that Abramovich asks.

Thomas TuchelChelsea manager, spoke about the sale of the club and said that, if the owner Roman Abramovich has decided, “it is appropriate“. The Russian oligarch announced on Wednesday his intention to sell the team he has managed since 2003. “The news reached me a little earlier, but very close to starting the match,” Tuchel said on the ‘BBC’ after winning 2- 3 to Luton Town in the FA Cup round of 16.
“We’ve been hearing the rumors all day, we’ve seen it on TV, we’ve had lunch together, we’ve talked about it… It is very important news. I think every decision he makes is the right one, it’s his choice, it’s his club, it’s not me who has to comment on it. I hope that for us, in the short term, as a team, don’t affect us too muchmaybe it won’t even change anything.
“Now we try to eliminate all the noise around us and concentrate, we have shown this Wednesday that we can do it. We do not live on an island, the players have internet, some are more worried than others. It is not easy to play the same day that this happensbut we have done a great performance”, added Tuchel.
