ISRO launched Brazil’s Amazonia-1 and 18 other satellites aboard a PSLV C-51 rocket – Aerospace News

The Indian Space Agency (ISRO) launched the Brazilian Amazonia-1 satellite and another 18 satellites on Sunday from the first launch platform of the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SHAR), more than 100 kilometers from Chennai, aboard the Polar PSLV rocket. C-51.

PSLV-C51 / Amazonia-1, which is PSLV number 53, is the first dedicated trade mission of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a Government of India company under the Department of Space. NSIL is carrying out this mission under a commercial agreement with Spaceflight Inc. USA.

Amazonia-1 is the optical Earth observation satellite of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). This satellite will further strengthen the existing structure by providing remote sensing data to users to monitor deforestation in the Amazon region and analyze diversified agriculture throughout the Brazilian territory.

The 18 passenger satellites include four from IN-SPACe (three UNITYsats from the consortium of three Indian academic institutes and One Satish Dhawan Sat from Space Kidz India) and 14 from NSIL.
