Israel’s Eden Golan Leads in Eurovision 2024 Semi-Final Voting Results – Rai Mistakenly Reveals Percentages

MALMÖ – During the live broadcast of the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, taking place in Malmö, Sweden, Rai mistakenly broadcast the television percentages on video. It was learned that way at the end of the vote Eden Golan for Israel was in first place with 39.31 percent of votes, and the Netherlands came second, far behind, with 7.32 percent of the votes.

The published results only refer to Italian television. Certainly, if the percentage was confirmed internationally and also on the last evening, this would mean that Israel has a very high probability of winning the tournament.

Distribution of television results prohibited by the regulation of EBU (European Broadcasting Union), that for the semi-finals only the ten winners need to be announced, also because the percentage data, and therefore the distribution of the ranking position of the ten, could be affected to get the viewers to vote in the final. For this reason, Rai is at risk of disciplinary action from Ebu.

Regarding the publication in the closing credits of the results of the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, Rai specifies in a note that “it was a technical inconvenience after some data – completely in part – incorrectly indicated in the graphics – of the Italian national vote. These results, according to the rules of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, can only be published after the final evening. Rai quickly apologized to the Ebu directors and believes that this inconvenience will not affect the consistency of the final product. The published votes are of course incomplete. Anyway, Rai has already spoken to Ebu confirming his commitment to full compliance with all the rules for the rest of the event”.
