Israeli Troops Withdraw from Shifa Hospital in Gaza City After 14-Day Siege: Dozens of Bodies Found Inside and Outside the Hospital

According to reports from the Associated Press, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and the American Cable News Network (CNN), GazaCivil DefenseSpokespersons and local residents said that the Israeli army withdrew from the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City early on the 1st after a 14-day siege. Dozens of bodies were seen inside and outside the hospital, and a large number of building facilities were damaged.

PalestineMedia quoted witnesses and the Gaza Ministry of Health as saying that dozens of bodies could be seen inside and outside the hospital.

The Israeli army previously claimed that this was the most successful military operation in nearly half a year of war, killing a large number of senior agents and others.Hamasand other armed elements, not only produced arms and weapons, but also obtained valuable intelligence.

Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense and Emergency Rescue Agency, told CNN on the 1st that the situation at the scene was very bad. “The hospital was covered with injured and dead people lying on the ground,” and “a pile of bodies were buried in the courtyard.”

After the Israeli troops withdrew, more than 30 injured people were sent to Al-Ahli Arabi Baptist hospital in eastern Gaza City.

One resident who escaped described the hospital as “completely destroyed”, with part of the hospital building set on fire.

Another resident, Yahia Abu Auf, said there were patients, medical staff and evacuees inside the hospital building.

When the Israeli army occupied the hospital, it said it was carrying out “precision operations against terrorists” and added that civilians, patients and medical teams had been evacuated; however, Palestinians around the hospital reported civilian casualties and arrests.

Israel has accused Hamas militants of using mosques, hospitals and other civilian facilities as cover for years, something Hamas denies.

Anti-Natanyahu demonstrations in Israel protest hostage issue not properly resolved

Public demonstrations took place in many places in Israel on March 30 and 31 last weekend, including the largest city, Tel Aviv, with the number of participants ranging from hundreds to thousands. The protests were mainly aimed at Prime Minister Natanyahu, who has been unable to allow the hostages kidnapped by Hamas to return safely, and also criticized the current Natanyahu government for its lack of progress in handling the Gaza war. Some people during the protests also demanded that Natanyahu Step down and take charge. There are currently about 130 hostages still in Gaza, and it is speculated that more than 30 of them have died. Negotiations on the hostages and the truce agreement have failed, leaving Natanyahu in a storm of public dissatisfaction; on the other hand, he insists on taking measures to attack southern Gaza. Rafah launched a ground offensive. This decision also caused uneasiness in the United States, fearing that it would cause more civilian casualties.
