Minister of Agriculture Israel Avi Dichter was given a warning by the Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu after giving a statement regarding the New Nakba 2023.

Dichter was asked by Channel 12 to compare the current situation in Gaza with the Nakba incident in 1945.

“We are holding the Gaza Nakba,” said Avi Dichter, as quoted from Anadolu AgencyMonday (13/11).

“From an operational point of view, there is no way to wage a war – as the Israeli army is doing in Gaza – with masses of people between tanks and soldiers,” he continued.

“Gaza Nakba 2023. That will end,” he said.

Apart from that, DItcher also said he did not know when Israel’s aggression would succeed. He also revealed that Gaza City occupies a third of the Gaza Strip’s territory and accommodates half of the Gaza Strip’s population.

“However, this is only a third of the Gaza Strip, and there are two thirds of the Gaza Strip and six refugee camps,” he said.

After giving the statement, Avi Dichter was reprimanded by Netanyahu. “Be careful with your words,” he admonished.

Avi Dichter is Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development who took office in 2022. Previously, he served as Minister of Internal Security for the 2006-2009 period, and Minister of Home Front Defense for the 2012-2013 period.

He is a member of the Knesset parliament from Israel’s right-wing party, Likud. Dichter has been a member of this political party since 2015 after leaving the Kadima Party, which was the party that represented him from 2006-2012.

Dichter was born to parents who were Holocaust survivors. He then joined the Zionist youth movement, Hashomer Hatzair, when he was still a teenager.

Avi Dichter then entered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 1971 and completed his training as one of the elite Sayeret Matkal troops.

In 1976, Dichter began serving in the Gaza Strip. Ten years later, he led a Southern Command unit during the first intifada.

Dichter was then appointed Head of the Security Division of the Israel Securities Authority (ISA) in 1996 following the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin the year before.

Before taking up the position as Director of ISA in 2000, he had served as deputy the year before. In 2005, Dichter retired from his position as Director of ISA.
