The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) is reportedly using the newest Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) Eitan armored fighting vehicle. This is the newest personnel carrier owned by Israel.
Quoted from Insider, Monday (11/13/2023) The Eitan APC has taken part in operations in Gaza since November 5 2023. Army Technology reported that the IDF developed the Eitan APC, as a multi-purpose 8×8 wheeled armored personnel carrier designed to replace the aging M113 APC in service with the Israeli forces.
The Eitan APC is called the advanced technology of the Merkava series of tanks and Namer armored vehicles. However, Eitan has high mobility and firepower in various fields. Eitan is used when next to a tank. This armored vehicle first appeared during the October 7 attack on Israel.

Further in Military Defense, the Eitan prototype was first announced to the public in 2016. After testing, the Eitan was then revealed to the public in 2016. Approved for procurement. Its mass production began in 2020. This armored vehicle entered service with the IDF in 2022. It is the first modern armored personnel carrier operated by Israel.
Eitan has a layout typical for modern 8×8 APCs. It weighs around 30-35 tons.
In fact it could be one of the most protected wheeled APCs in the world. The vehicle has a V-shaped hull for increased protection against mines and improvised explosive devices. So far there is no official data regarding ballistic and mine protection. Most likely the front bow can withstand hits from 25-30 mm guns and complete protection against 12.7 mm or 14.5 mm armor-piercing rounds.
In terms of mine protection it is likely that this vehicle was designed to withstand an explosion equivalent to 10 kg of TNT. The Eitan was originally planned to be equipped with the Meil Ruach (commonly known as Trophy) active protection system.
The Eitan has more internal space than the M113. Operated by a crew of 3 and can carry 9 troops. Troopers entered the vehicle and disembarked via a rear ramp operated by an integral door.
This armored vehicle uses 10 external cameras that provide 360° vision around the vehicle. This camera can be used at night.
The APC is powered by a German MTU turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 750 hp.
The vehicle is equipped with a central tire inflation system, which improves mobility over difficult terrain, such as sand. Tires are equipped with a run flat system. Eitan can drive with a flat tire for 16 km. When the tire is flat, the maximum speed is limited to 50 km/h.
