Israel approves second booster shot for over-60s • Congressman Twitter account blocked for misinformation

Twitter has permanently blocked the personal account of US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. The Republican politician from Georgia has spread disinformation about the coronavirus too often, according to Twitter, something that is not allowed under the rules of the social media platform.

What message led to Twitter closing its account has not been disclosed. On Saturday, Greene wrote that deaths from vaccines used to be taken seriously, but today “an extremely high number of vaccine deaths are being ignored while the number of government-imposed vaccination obligations is on the rise.”

On Telegram, Greene, an outspoken supporter of former President Trump, has reacted strongly to Twitter’s decision, which she calls “un-American”. “Twitter is an enemy of America and can’t stand the truth. That’s fine. I’ll show America that we don’t need them and that it’s time to defeat our enemies,” she wrote.

The Congressman, who previously was under fire due to, among other things, racist statements and the spreading of conspiracy theories by QAnon, was previously temporarily banned from Twitter. Then it was about periods of twelve hours to a week. Now her personal Twitter account is permanently closed. Her official account, where she shares information about her work in Congress, remains open.
