The development team of WhatsApp never stops developing new features, and after the arrival of the feature for forever silence notifications in a chat, it seems that the application is about to embrace a very interesting new function: the automatic removal of chat messages.
Messages disappeared from chats
In fact, as you can see from the images in the gallery shared by a user on Twitter, the application presented the following warning text: “This message was sent while disappearing messages were disabled“. The text obviously refers to a function not yet announced but which is clearly available for some users, it is not clear whether it is linked to geographical issues or as an A / B test to test its functionality on a small (but still significant) number of users. The text is shown on the screen by tapping the “i” icon available next to the message.
The function could be useful for example within groups, where perhaps every few days the application automatically proceeds to remove messages in order to keep the chat always “clean”. It is clear that ours are simple assumptions that may not match the definitive version of the feature, but we believe this may be one of the reasons why the feature was developed in the first place.
