is this the first screenshot of Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG?

After the announcement of theMicrosoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, the expectation towards Starfield, an ambitious sci-fi RPG, has become even more spasmodic.

The announcement of the project took place during the 2018 E3 conference, but since then the title has never officially shown itself, leaving it to our imagination to do all the work. An important turning point could have come in the past few hours, when what appears to be shared between the pages of Reddit the first screenshot of Starfield. The shot, which you can also see below, shows an astronaut framed from a third-person perspective in front of a space installation. The user interface shows the indicators of the weapon in use, energy, stamina and oxygen remaining in the suit’s tanks, suggesting the possibility of exploring extraterrestrial environments normally inhospitable to humans.

Bethesda did not claim maternity for the shot, but the overall look seems to be consistent with that of the Starfield announcement trailer. Furthermore, the youtuber Skullzi claims to have received confirmation of the veracity of the screenshot from an anonymous source: according to what was stated, it would have been extrapolated from a build of the game dating back to 2018. There is also other evidence of the legitimacy of the image: a user on Reddit pointed out that the font of the UI is the same used on the official Starfield website, while the logo on the astronaut’s right shoulder had already been seen in the video of the game announcement.

We await official information from Bethesda, also regarding the target platforms. The arrival of Starfield on PlayStation has indeed been questioned since the recent acquisition of Microsoft.
