For the first time since the corona pandemic, and rather unexpectedly, the Bank of England has raised interest rates. The main British interest rate has stood at 0.1 percent since March 2020, when the Bank of England acted to prop up the economy in the early days of the corona pandemic, but is now at 0.25 percent. It is the first rate hike since August 2018.
