IS leader Abdul Nasser Qirdash arrested and detained in Iraq | NOW

Abdul Nasser Qirdash, a leader of terrorist organization Islamic State, was arrested and detained on Wednesday, Iraqi intelligence agencies report on Wednesday. The man was also a potential candidate to succeed previous IS leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi.

Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi was killed in a US military operation last year.

“Today, the terrorist named Abdul Nasser Qirdash, who was a candidate to succeed Al Baghdadi, was arrested. We were able to arrest him after accurate inquiries,” said the Iraqi National Intelligence Service.

Eventually, Amir Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mawli Al Salbi, also known as Abu Ibrahim Al Hashimi Al Qurayshi, became the current leader of IS. U.S. intelligence agencies still have a $ 5 million reward for his arrest.
