Iron Man Successor Makes Unexpected Debut in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

A while ago it was announced that the character Riri Williams aka Ironheart will get his own series on Disney +. Now it becomes clear that actress Dominique Thorne the part will already play in the second Black Panther-film.

Ironheart first appeared in the comics in 2016 and was an instant success. So it’s not surprising that Marvel Studios is also bringing her to the silver screen. She can be seen as the successor to Iron Man.

You may know Thorne from the movie If Beal Street Could Talk and studio boss Kevin Feige has confirmed she’s making her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This makes it clear that her background is changing compared to her story in the comics.

“We are currently shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and you will meet Riri Williams’ character for the first time in Black Panther 2,” revealed Feige. “She has already started shooting before she starts the Ironheart series.”

Successor to Iron Man
In the comics, Riri Williams is a 15-year-old tech student and the daughter of the late Riri Williams Sr. After her father’s death, Riri lives with her mother Ronnie in Chicago.

Riri designs a working armor similar to Iron Man’s armor that puts her in touch with Tony Stark. He decides to support her in her desire to become a superhero.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled for July 2022.
