London / Luxembourg – According to the European Court of Justice, Ireland must continue to arrest suspected criminals on the basis of the European arrest warrant and extradite them to Great Britain, despite Brexit. The court ruled on Tuesday that the relevant passages in the EU’s exit and trade agreements with the United Kingdom are binding for Ireland.
