US launches preparations for diplomatic failure to resolve Iran nuclear issue

A senior Iranian military official warned on Saturday and warned of a “high price” to pay after the announcement of joint military exercises between Israel and the United States to counter Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

“Creating conditions to test Iranian missiles with real targets will cost the aggressors dearly,” said Nournews, affiliated with Iran’s highest security body, on Twitter, citing a military official on condition of anonymity.

At the same time, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Saturday that Tehran was “serious” in its talks with world powers aimed at salvaging a 2015 nuclear deal, the official IRNA news agency reported.

“We are serious in the negotiations and if the other side is also serious about the removal of US sanctions, we will come to a good deal. We are seriously looking for a good deal,” IRNA said, citing Raisi, according to the report. ‘Press Agency Reuters.

But the United States has launched “preparations” in case of diplomatic failure to settle the Iranian nuclear problem, signaling that Washington no longer believes in the success of the talks which have just resumed in Vienna.

US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, who hosted his Israeli counterpart Benny Gantz, spoke of a recent exercise in the Red Sea by the United States, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

“We will continue to develop this regional security architecture through military cooperation, training and joint exercises,” he said.

The meeting of heads of delegation from the different parties (Russia, China, France, Germany, United Kingdom), which began at around noon (11:00 GMT) on Friday at the Cobourg Palace, lasted just over an hour.

United States envoy Rob Malley, who is participating indirectly through the Europeans, is due to join the discussions over the weekend.
