“Iran open to any initiative aiming to put an end to the war in Yemen”

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced that his country “welcomes any initiative aimed at ending the war in Yemen,” stressing Iran’s interest in improving relations with its neighbors, describing the resumption of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia as “a step forward in the right direction.”
Abdullahian said during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in Moscow, “It takes some time to advance relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. There are still problems, but they are not considered obstacles to the progress of the talks, “adding that Tehran” welcomes the ongoing talks related to the crisis in Yemen.
Abdullahian pointed out the importance of pushing any efforts to “bring peace,” stressing that he will soon hold a meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to accelerate the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
In turn, Lavrov praised China’s role in mediating between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and saw that the step contributes to launching the path of a political settlement in Yemen, purifying the regional atmosphere, and searching for settlements to outstanding issues.
The two ministers dealt with several regional files and economic cooperation, but the most prominent file was the stalled nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington with the aim of reviving the nuclear agreement since March last year. its obligations.”
With regard to the tension between Azerbaijan and Iran, Lavrov expressed his hope that a settlement of what he described as “friction” between the two neighboring countries would be reached soon. Abdullahian said that the continuation of tensions in the South Caucasus “is not in the interest of any of the parties.”
Iran is apprehensive about the Israeli-Azerbaijani rapprochement. Yesterday, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen inaugurated the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel. Cohen said he and Bayramov agreed “to form a united front against Iran.”
