The International Press Institute (IPI) placed a full-page advertisement in the Washington Post on Wednesday calling on the international community to campaign for press freedom in Belarus. For four months the people of the country have been demonstrating peacefully for democracy, it says. Meanwhile, journalists reporting on it have been arrested, punished, beaten, deported – or Alexander Lukashenko’s government has denied them accreditation.
