iPhone recovered intact by owner a year after falling into deep lake

A Taiwanese identified simply as Chen went through a very curious episode with his iPhone 11 Pro Max. The Asian, who likes to practice stand up paddle (sport in which you use a board and paddle to get around on water, usually in shallow rivers), lost his treasured gadget in one of his aquatic adventures. Even protected by those waterproof cases, the cell phone ended up falling into the depths of Lago Sol Lua, which is about 27 meters deep.

Since the iPhone in question has an IP67 certification (ie, resistant to submersion for up to four months for 30 minutes) and the bag extends this capacity to 14 meters, Chen had no hope of getting the device back into full operation. After commenting on what happened to his acquaintances, a friend prophesied: “Rest assured, you will see your iPhone again in a year.” We do not know whether such a colleague works with mystical forces or clairvoyance, but the truth is only one: his prediction proved to be true.

Exactly a year later, a severe drought on the lake in question revealed a large part of its banks; when visiting the site, Chen was surprised to find his good old iPhone. The case was completely dirty and damaged, but the cell phone itself continues to work perfectly. Another detail was that the Taiwanese was very lucky to visit the region at the right time – a few days after recovering the product, the water level rose again and he would lose (for another year) the chance to recover the iGadget.

Remember that this is not the first time that we have seen the case of an iPhone surviving “radical dives” – recently, one unit stayed 82 in the Pacific Ocean until it was rescued, while another stayed for three weeks in a muddy river in Dallas, in the United States. Another curious incident occurred last year – a iPhone 11 ended up falling into the artificial seaside Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World Resort, also being successfully recovered after two months.
