iPhone: Apple would increase its prices by 100 euros this year

This is the bad news that we all feared, it seems to be confirmed…

Only a few months left before Apple presents its brand new iPhone 14. Four models, including an iPhone 14 Max replacing the mini, but also a new design and a new chip on the Pro models… The contours of these new headed smartphones are draw little by little. But until this day, an unknown, and not the least, persisted: the price. And it might sting.

You have probably already noticed that on its new products, Apple has only increased the prices compared to previous generations. We saw it with the MacBook Air M2, which increases by 140 € compared to the M1, or with the MacBook Pro M2, which is now 370 € more expensive than the M1.

But this price increase, which is attributed to the increase in the price of the chemicals necessary for the manufacture of chips, will not only affect computers with apples. The iPhone, the company’s flagship products, will also be impacted.

And according to the journalists of the British media The Sun, this increase will not be of the order of a few euros. After interviewing tech industry expert Dan Ives, they learned that the iPhone 14 would be $100 more expensive than the iPhone 13. and Cupertino needs to pass those costs on to the consumer on that release,” he told The Sun.

No iPhone below 1,000 €?

Where the iPhone 13 was sold for €909 when it was launched in September 2021, the iPhone 14 could thus be around €1,000. By following this logic and taking into account the fact that the iPhone mini will no longer exist, it will no longer be possible to buy an iPhone below the symbolic threshold of one thousand euros (except the iPhone SE).

Fortunately, other specialists want to be more optimistic. This is particularly the case of Ben Wood who, if he confirms the inevitable price increase in the production chain, ensures that Apple could assume the drop in its margin. “But given the cost of living, Apple may decide that raising prices could be counterproductive,” he says, assuring that raising prices would be a disincentive for customers to buy.
