KOMPAS.com – Apple officially released the iPhone 15 Series at the Apple Event entitled “Wonderlsut” in the United States (US), Wednesday (13/9/2023) early morning WIB. This series consists of four models, namely iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Each model has different specifications. As for iPhone 15 being the most regular version of the iPhone 15 series. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the flagship version of the iPhone 15 series.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus specifications
Both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have almost the same specifications. The difference lies in the screen size. The iPhone 15 has a 6.1 inch screen, while the iPhone 15 Plus measures 6.7 inches.
Apple’s two newest smartphones also carry the Dynamic Island feature which was previously found on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The screens of these two smartphones use Super Retina XDR with OLED.
In addition, both devices have a high dynamic range (HDR) brightness level of up to 1,600 nits and peak outdoor brightness of up to 2,000 nits. This brightness level is twice as bright as the iPhone 14.
Another similarity is also visible on the camera. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are both equipped with a 48 MP main camera with a quad-pixel sensor. There are also 100 percent Focus Pixels which are equipped with a default 24 MP for super high resolution photos as well as a 2x telephoto option.
Apart from that, users can also enlarge photos 2x with telephoto. This feature is useful for taking images that are magnified twice to capture objects from a distance.
Another photography feature found on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is the new portrait mode. Through this feature, the device can detect someone in the frame automatically. This way, users can switch to portrait mode more easily.
For the processor, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus use the A16 Bionic chipset which was previously embedded in the iPhone 14 Pro.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the two highest variants of the iPhone 15 Series. Even though they have a similar appearance, they both have a number of differences.
The iPhone 15 Pro has a 6.1 inch OLED panel screen with a resolution of 2,556 x 1,179 pixels. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 6.7 inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2,796 x 1,290 pixels.
The difference in screen also affects the dimensions of the two highest variants of the iPhone 15 series.
The iPhone 15 Pro has a smaller body with a height of 146.6 millimeters (mm), a width of 70.6 mm, a thickness of 8.25 mm, and a weight of 187 grams.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro has a larger body with a height of 159.9 mm, a width of 76.7 mm and a thickness of 8.25 mm. The weight of the highest variant of the iPhone 15 Series smartphone is 221 grams.
Difference between iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max It can also be seen in the camera specifications. The iPhone 15 Pro has a rear camera configuration consisting of a 48 MP main camera (f/1.8), a 12 MP telephoto camera (f/2.8) accompanied by 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera (2.2).
The iPhone 15 Pro is also capable of recording 4K video at up to 60 fps, supports 10-bit HDR, Cinematic Mode, 3D Spatial Video and ProRes features.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has all the features of the iPhone 15 Pro. The highest variant of the iPhone 15 Series is also equipped with exclusive camera features, namely a telephoto camera with a periscope lens with a resolution of 12 MP (f/2.8). This camera supports 3D Sensor Shift and 5x optical zoom.
For chipsets, iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are both powered by Apple’s latest 3 nm A17 chip. According to Apple’s calculations, this chipset has a GPU and CPU that are 20 percent and 10 percent faster than the previous version, respectively.
After being officially released, the iPhone 15 Series can be pre-ordered by users in more than 40 countries starting Friday (15/9/2023) United States time.
