iPhone 12 without headphones and power adapter – a right step?

For months there have been numerous rumors about the new functions of the upcoming iPhone generation. However, there have recently been negative reports for potential buyers: Apple wants to reduce the scope of delivery and should no longer include EarPods or a power adapter in the new models. In addition to the smartphone and the short description, only a USB-C to Lighning charging cable should be found in the box. Before you get upset, you should ask why it can be good.

the price is hot

In 2020 Apple is to install the powerful A14 processor in the iPhone 12 series. There is also a 5G modem and the LiDAR sensor. The latter is probably exclusive to the Pro models, if not just the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Of course, the new hardware costs more. In order not to have to increase the prices, it would be a logical step for Apple to leave out the accessories. This is particularly clear, since many users already have multiple accessories in the cabinet.

Good for Apple and good for the environment

Speculation has it that Apple will discontinue production of the 5W and 18W power supplies at the end of the year and offer an optional 20W power supply instead. The recently released iPhone SE (2nd Gen.) should also be robbed of the power supply. This saves Apple and at the same time creates new resources – for example for new AirPods.

In addition, Apple’s step could protect the environment. As already mentioned, many users have bought several iPhone and iPad models over the years and have both EarPods and power supply in abundance, because instead of the EarPods you only use the AirPods or other headphones and a charging adapter instead of the power supply used for multiple devices or even a Qi charging mat. Why should Apple supply accessories that everyone already has and only need a few users?

However, there is a possibility that Apple will only reduce the scope of the entry-level models. Already last year accessories were differentiated, so that the Pro models received a USB-C to Lightning cable and 18W-USB-C power supply, while the normal iPhone 11 only with the 5W power supply and the usual Lightning cable came along.

What do you think? Should Apple continue to include EarPods and a power adapter or are you using other headphones and chargers anyway? Let us know in the comments.
