Apple is expected to release four new iPhone 12 models later this year and, meanwhile, analysts at British bank Barclays have outlined, following discussions with several vendors, what may be some of the news.
According to reports from MacRumors, Barclays analysts have stated that the next iPhone 12 will not include the EarPods in the package, as already planned by Ming-Chi Kuo last month. But that’s not all, in fact, because the power supply could also be removedthus making the already not too supplied sales package even more sparse. If this indiscretion were confirmed, the pack would be composed, in addition to the smartphone, exclusively of a USB-C to Lightning cable.
If on the one hand this would help to reduce the environmental impact on the other, millions of users would have to face an additional expense and buy a new charger separately if not in possession of a compatible one or deriving from the iPhones perhaps previously owned.
The cost of the 5W basic power supply is a good 25 euros in the Apple price list while for the 18W one, introduced with the Pro 11 series models, it reaches 35 euros. We are sure that this choice would not make users happy at all, who after spending hundreds of euros on the purchase of the smartphone would have to face an additional expense. If so, it could therefore prove to be an unwise decision even if it certainly would not affect in any way the sales of the new iPhones, considering that, at the same time, many people have more than one charger of various kinds and that could be reused.
Earlier this week, some images related to a 20W adapter were shared which could, for good reason, be included in the sales box of the upcoming iPhone 12, thus contradicting what Barclays reported.
Barclays itself also estimates that series production of the iPhone 12 models is delayed about 4-6 weeks than usual. Analysts, however, believe that Apple will announce the new range in any case, but some models may not be available for purchase until October or November, as has happened in the past with the iPhone X and iPhone XR.
Analysts expect to see the two models of iPhone 12 Pro equipped with three cameras combined with a LiDAR scanner, introduced for the first time on iPad Pro and which would allow fans to try new experiences related to augmented reality.
Barclays also said it had found more details on the iPad Pro and would not rule out a new hardware update later this year, at the moment there are no further details. Instead, for the third generation AirPods we will have to wait for the start of the new year.
All this information is to be taken with due caution, as it is right that it is until you have an official but Barclays isn’t new to revealing some details in advance which will then actually be announced with the new devices. Already in the past they had foreseen the arrival of True Tone on iPhone 8 and iPhone X, the removal of the headphone jack adapter with the iPhone XS and iPhone XR models and the elimination of the 3D Touch on all iPhone 11 models.
We will see if this time too they hit the mark or if all the fans of the brand with the bitten apple will continue to find the classic power supply in the package.
