The National Olympic Committees of Russia and Belarus will not receive invitations to the Summer Games in Paris 2024. About it announced International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The IOC clarified that invitations would not be sent on the previously set date – July 26 – a year before the start of the 2024 Olympics. This does not mean that Russian athletes will not compete at the Olympic Games next summer – the final decision on the participation of Russians will be announced later, when the Executive Committee and the IOC session take place, writes “RIA Novosti».
The media also notes that there are “hints” in the IOC statement that Russians and Belarusians can be admitted to the Olympics in a neutral status.
The Kremlin reacted to the decision of the IOC. “We do not consider it fair. Our position is well known. We categorically oppose the politicization of sports,” Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
