The mobile operator Tele2 continues to expand its operations in the insurance market and has introduced car technical assistance insurance or SOS roadside assistance as a separate service.

Tele2 is the first in the Baltic States to offer such a service, and approximately 100,000 euros have been invested in its development. This insurance will be useful for every car owner, because in case of various car bugs, you will be able to receive 24-hour technical assistance anywhere in the Baltics.

Any Tele2 customer can purchase SOS on-the-go assistance in the Tele2 mobile app by paying a monthly subscription fee of 1.99 euros. The insurance policy covers all kinds of technical assistance in the event of, for example, a flat tire, a puncture or an obstacle, a malfunction of the engine, faulty electronics or batteries, etc.

“We have been working on this service for a long time, because we wanted it to be convenient and easy for customers to use. Currently, the customer can easily connect and apply for this insurance service with the help of a mobile application, as well as the customer has the opportunity to opt out of this service at any time. The car owner will no longer have to worry about who to call or who to turn to if there is a technical problem with the car on the road. All you have to do is enter the “Tele2” mobile app and apply for SOS help on the road so that the masters can already go to the scene, “says Raivo Rosts, Commercial Director of” Tele2 “. “Until now, insurers have offered this service as a bonus to one of the types of car insurance, but not as a separate insurance product. Our survey data show that more than 40% of car owners have had a car breakdown on the road and technical assistance at least once. Therefore, we anticipate that this insurance may be in demand among many car owners. ”

Tele2 offers this insurance service in cooperation with AAS BALTA. Insurance operates throughout the Baltics, but the scope of the service provided varies. In the territory of Latvia, assistance services are provided without restrictions, while outside Latvia, maximum limits are set for the service.

“When creating this service, we took special care of customer service. For example, if technical support cannot be provided at the scene, the tow truck will take the car to any place or garage of the customer’s choice within 50 km free of charge, while passengers will be provided with a taxi. Also, if it is established that the car cannot be repaired within 24 hours after delivery to the service, a replacement car will be provided, ”says Zemgus Eglītis, the head of insurance services at Tele2.

At the end of 2019, Tele2 announced its entry into the CASCO insurance market, and in June this year, the offer of car technical assistance or SOS insurance service. Tele2 smart device insurance, on the other hand, has been a highly valued service for seven years. According to the information and calculations published by the FCMC, Tele2 is the eighth largest seller of personal property insurance by the amount of written premiums in 2020.
