A free prologue to an action game with stealth elements has become available on Steam Intravenous 2 under called Mercenarism. In it, you play from the perspective of the mercenary Gideon from a top-down perspective and complete a couple of simple missions that will build into the events of the full game, planned for later this year.
The two-level demo sets the premise of the game: you play as a highly trained lone mercenary whose job is to sneak or shoot everyone between you and the target. You can customize your character however you want for the upcoming battles with a skill tree, weapon modifications, or general equipment. And if all else fails, you can switch to slow-motion mode to gain an advantage during tense moments.
Intravenous 2 positions itself as a tactical action game with stealth elements; it seems that the developers managed to get into the right mood of the genre. The color palette is made in dull grays and browns, with flickering light that sometimes reveals details, sometimes masks them. Good lighting effects are vital to stealth action games in general, and it’s clear that developer Explosive Squat Games understands this: the warm glow of lamps and ceiling lights contrasts with blinding LEDs and flickering fluorescent tubes.
