Intradermal and needle-free vaccination improves animal welfare, reduces iatrogenic transmission of pathogens and reduces tissue damage

MSD Animal Healtha leading company in the animal health sector, has participated in the XLII ANAPORC Congress 2023which took place on October 4 and 5 at the Forum Evolución in Burgos, where it exhibited its range of IDAL® products and, specifically, the joint use of Porcilis® Lawsonia ID, vaccine against porcine ileitis with intradermal registration, with Porcilis® PCV ID.

These devices allow all the advantages associated with intradermal and needle-free vaccination, while making possible the immunization of animalsusing high quality and effective products against diseases such as PRRS, enzootic pneumonia, Aujeszky’s disease and circovirosis and porcine ileitis.

Paula HerreroProduct Manager of the Pork Business Unit at MSD Animal Health, explained that with this intradermal vaccination system “Improves animal well-being by reducing stress and pain during vaccination, reducing the iatrogenic transmission of pathogens and avoiding the possible risk of damage to muscle tissue, since the vaccine is deposited in the dermis.”

It also helps minimize abscesses “which are generated after incorrect vaccination practice and thanks to the non-use of needles, generates greater safety for workers and avoids possible remains of needles in the carcass, which favors food safety.”

This edition, which has counted like every year with numerous and renowned professionals of the pork sector, has been moderated by the president of ANAPORC, Juan Grandiaand has stood out for his keynote presentations, in which issues such as preventive and sustainable nutrition or senecavirus.

In the round tables for the Closing of both days were debated European limitations on pig production and a session was held under the title ‘Why are we missing pigs?’, where guests were able to debate and resolve their doubts and concerns with the speakers.
