International Student Learning Festival and Cits Bazar comes to Riga with participants from 12 European countries

On April 19, more than 200 participants from 12 European countries will come to Riga to represent their companies at the International Student Learning Festival and fair Cits Bazar.

On the day of the event, anyone interested in Domina Shopping will be able to view and buy products created by young people from Austria, Estonia, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Norway, Italy, Iceland, the Netherlands, Malta and Latvia. With the support of Unicef’s Uplift Youth project, young people from Ukraine will also participate in the festival.

“The International Student Educational Enterprises (SMU) Festival is a place where Latvian students have the opportunity to broaden their horizons, get to know like-minded young people from different countries who are also passionate about entrepreneurship, make contacts and find inspiration for the development of their skills and their product,” says the festival organizer, head of the educational organization “Junior Achievement Latvia” Jānis Krievāns.

Latvia will be represented in the competition by 22 school companies. The automatic plant watering system, cup coasters made from coffee grounds, a transformable deposit bottle storage tank, truffles from quail egg shells are just some of the innovative and sustainable business ideas that representatives of Latvian schools will present at the event.

Anyone interested can visit the event on April 19 at the Domina Shopping center from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Dina Bunce, director of the shopping center “Domina Shopping”: “The offer of a successful shopping center is unimaginable without goods of international brands, therefore we will gladly welcome young and enterprising young people from all over Europe to visit us. During one day and, most likely, for the first time in their lives, they will try selling their own products on the export market, they will feel healthy competition and the taste of profit. Let’s support young people in their efforts, because who knows, maybe in a few years one of them will become the creator of a globally recognized brand, which was born directly thanks to participation in Another Bazaar”.

The performance of the students will be evaluated by a specially formed jury of business professionals and academics, who will choose the best in six categories – innovative business idea, socially responsible business, best sales team, best stand, best video advertisement and the best student training company of 2023. The winner of the festival’s main prize, which will be recognized as the best student training company of 2023, will be determined by the highest number of points received in all categories.

Among the evaluators will be representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LTRK), Latvian Employers’ Confederation (LDDK), Bank of Latvia, Balcia insurance, Swedbank Latvia, RISEBA, Riga Technical University, Domina Shopping, Altum, Printful, FactSet and other companies .

The international SMU festival International Student Company Festival in Riga will take place for two days – from 18 to 19. April, and it will be opened with a conference in which the students and teachers involved in the project will participate, making mutual contacts and sharing the experience of promoting entrepreneurship.

The festival in Riga has been organized for the 13th year by the largest Latvian educational organization Junior Achievement Latvia (JA Latvia).
