Internazionale seized the Italian supercup on Wednesday at the expense of fellow townsman AC Milan. The cup winner of 2022 was much too strong in Saudi Arabia for the reigning national champion: 0-3.
Inter was on roses in the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh halfway through the first half. Federido Dimarco was the end station of a beautiful attack after nine minutes. Moments later, Edin Dzeko made it 0-2 by cutting out his opponent and placing the ball in the long corner.
Milan had little to say against Inter before the break, but after the break, coach Stefano Pioli’s team became stronger. Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leão, among others, made attempts to score, but Inter goalkeeper André Onana kept his goal clean.
Fifteen minutes before the end, Lautaro Martínez put an end to all doubts. The world champion cleverly turned away from defender Fikayo Tomori with a long ball and then outwitted goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu with a beautiful foot movement: 0-3.
