Intensivists do not see the pressure on healthcare decreasing: “Looser rules at Christmas? Hospitals are really not ready for that ”| Inland

Many Belgians want to continue to comply with the corona measures during the festive period. Still, the call for relaxation – reopening shops and more people around the Christmas dinner – is also getting louder. How do they see the end of the year in hospitals, and especially in intensive care units?

When MR Chairman Georges-Louis Bouchez called two weeks ago to “not celebrate Christmas on Skype after all”, Sabeth De Waele was not happy about that, to say the least. She then warned against a “Christmas wave” on intensive “that we will not be able to absorb”.

Has the situation become more sustainable in the meantime, is there some breathing space?
