Intel teases Apple: here’s what you can’t do with a Mac M1

La partnership tra Intel ed Apple it lasted for many years in perfect harmony. The first company had been procuring the chips since 2005, while the second was offering its customers computers exclusively equipped with Intel processors.

We know very well, however, that the partnership has recently cracked, when the Cupertino company decided to design its own at home SoC Apple Silicon. Now Intel, after a “declaration of war” made by your SEO, has gone on to counterattack with a rather particular advertising campaign.

Intel launched a new advertising campaign whose goal is to underline what users can do with a PC that is forbidden by technical or physical limits on a Mac equipped with an Apple Silicon SoC. Every Mac sold with this chip is one less Intel processor sold, so it’s understandable that the behemoth has decided to stick its nails out to convince Apple to take a step back on its decision to end the partnership.

In one of the campaign ads, the text reads: “only one PC offers tablet mode, touch screen and stylus capabilities in one device“.

Intel marketing campaign against Apple

Intel goes so far as to say that Macs are not ideal for gaming, which is true, or for engineers, as programs like Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks (to name a few) are not available. According to Intel, Windows has a larger catalog of software and games than macOS so the choice should be easy.

Referring to the abandonment of the Mac platform by the developers, one of the CEOs also recalled that “if you can launch Rocket League, you’re not on a Mac” since the game is no longer available for Apple computers since last year.

Among the many peculiarities of the marketing campaign, we also find a video made in collaboration with the YouTuber Jon Rettinger, in which the advantages of having a PC are highlighted such as standard USB ports, touch screen, eGPU support and the possibility of working with two external displays.

Meanwhile, Apple says its transition from Intel processors to Apple Silicon should be completed by the end of 2022, when the company will no longer have Mac computers in the catalog with Intel CPUs. As colleagues from 9-to-5 Mac, it is clear that Intel has nothing more to lose with this campaign against Apple, the company has already lost everything it could.
