We waited a long time, but it’s finally here, Intel has officially introduced its graphics cards, which so far we only knew as Xe. The company, which in the past focused only on the production of processors, is finally venturing into the waters of the GPU. However, she planned her arrival for a long time, the graphics division is led by AMD veteran Raja Koduri and Anton Kaplanyan, who spent several years in Nvidia in the past, worked on vice president for a few days, working on hardware support for ray tracing.
Although we do not yet know the performance data, nor individual models, but Intel introduced its official brandunder which graphics cards will be sold: Arc. This name should appear on every GPU and should act as GeForce for Nvidia or Radeon for AMD. At the same time, we learned code designation of the first four generations: Alchemist, Battlemage, Celestial and Druid. Of course, we are most interested in the first one, which we knew as in the past DG2 and head to the market first. Intel has announced that this will happen in the first quarter of next year.
There is also the first video, but we only see shots from various games that don’t tell us much. More interesting was a tweet from the aforementioned Anton Kaplanyan, who said that Arc graphics cards will support DirectX 12 Ultimate, with which it is connected podpora mesh shadingu a ray tracingu, which he even mentioned as “High performance”. Does that mean he will be at Nvidia’s level? This would of course be a big surprise, as AMD has not yet offered comparable performance in RT. Even more interesting is the addition that Intel separately announces “high-quality neural supersampling”, even this week. It looks like Intel is not only planning to support ray tracing, but also its own version of DLSS, which will also use artificial intelligence (unlike AMD).
