Intel extends Atom C3000 processor line for iot and network devices – Computer – News

Fair enough. I may have to express myself differently; Intel has a nice lineup with U CPUs, which you could eg throtthlen up to 10W. The following is purely illustrative, no facts 🙂

C3000 CPU: https: //www.cpubenchmark….C3558+%40+2.20GHz&id=3129
to 16watt, but that is 10watt with the refresh.
‘My’ old i5-5250U: https: //www.cpubenchmark….5250U+%40+1.60GHz&id=2478

to 15watt. The new U cpus are of course already a lot faster and more efficient than the 5th generation that I am talking about here. But even then; If you put that 5250u from 15 to 10 watts, you would theoretically have 33% less performance (apart from turbo boosts, which you might not even want on industrial CPUs). But even then it is a lot faster than the old C3000 at full speed. I am looking at the single thread performance in this example, because many applications depend on it.

And that’s kind of my point; Intel already has a line with very good efficiency at low powers. Why another Atom line, which performed less with more power so far? Is that purely the price tag?
