Intel: Arc Alchemist desktop graphics cards to be released in Q2 – Computer – News

Intel’s Arc Alchemist desktop graphics cards will be released in the second quarter of this year. Laptops with Arc GPUs will appear in the first quarter, as was already known. Intel also announces streaming service Project Endgame, but gives few details about it.

Intel writes that the company will begin shipping Arc Alchemist products in the second quarteradd-inmaps for desktop. Workstation GPUs will follow “by the third quarter,” the chipmaker says. The company also indicates that OEMs will release their first laptops with Arc Alchemist GPUs this quarter.

The company said earlier that Arch Alchemist GPUs will appear in laptops in the first quarter. At CES in January Intel said its Arc Alchemist graphics cards would be released in the first quarter, though it only talked about “integration into systems” from OEMs at the time. In total, Intel expects to deliver 4 million separate GPUs by 2022. However, that includes other GPUs, such as the upcoming Ponte Vecchio chip for data centers and high-performance computing.

Intel announced its Arc Alchemist graphics cards earlier on. These chips are intended as separate GPUs for laptops and desktops. Intel does not manufacture these Arc Alchemist graphics cards itself. Instead, they are made at TSMC, on its 6nm process. The video cards will receive support for ray tracing and Intel XeSS, a counterpart to AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS.

The manufacturer also indicates that it has started developing the Arc Celestial architecture. That will be the company’s third-generation Arc GPU. Intel writes that Celestial is intended for the ‘ultra-enthusiastic’ market segment. In addition, Intel announces Project Endgame. That seems to concern a streaming service that runs on Arc GPUs. “Project Endgame will provide users with access to Intel Arc GPUs through an always-accessible, low-latency compute experience,” the company writes. That would be similar to Nvidia’s GeForce NOW. Intel says Project Endgame will be available later this year, but does not share further details.
