Instagram Reels Extended To 90 Seconds, Indonesia Has Got It

KOMPAS.com – Meta (before Facebook Inc.) finally extended the duration of videos that can be uploaded on Instagram Reels, a short video feature the company launched in 2020.

In a post on the official website, Meta announced that videos that can be uploaded to Instagram Reels currently the maximum duration is 90 seconds or one and a half minutes.

When it first launched in 2020, Instagram Reels initially only supported 15-second videos. Then, over the last two years or so, the duration has been increased to 30 seconds, 60 seconds, and now 90 seconds.

“We will continue to create new ways to make it easier for creators and businesses to maximize the power of Reels,” said Putri Silalahi, Instagram Southeast Asia Head of Communications.

“We hope that these features can help them achieve their goals more quickly,” continued Putri in a written statement received KompasTeknoFriday (3/6/2022).

With this additional duration, Instagram Reels catches up with its competitor, TikTok.

In terms of short video duration, TikTok can be said to be superior. Because, as of March 2022, this social network created by ByteDance, can upload videos with a maximum duration of up to 10 minutes.

However, Instagram doesn’t just have Reels. If you want to upload a video longer than 90 minutes, users can upload it as normal video content.
